Bookshop: David Hamilton
Published Tuesdays and Fridays, The Photography Post Market column highlights items for sale in our market. We also invite guest contributors to add items to our shops.
Today I’m offering the very first book of a true original in the world of photography, David Hamilton. Hamilton is best known for his nudes, shot with his signature soft focus filter, and printed in muted color tones.
The subject matter has brought Hamilton plenty of controversy throughout his career, and conversely plenty of accolades. Hamilton was most prolific in the 70’s, but continues to accept and shoot assignments today.
Whether you find his work exceptionally gorgeous or strictly perverse… keep in mind Hamilton arrived on the scene fifteen years before Sally Mann, twenty before Jock Sturges, and thirty before Terry Richardson. I’m going to assume they’re fans.
