2. Silver Eye Center for Photography, the region’s only non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to photography, is pleased to announce Fellowship 2010, their 11th annual international photography competition. Deborah Klochko, Executive Director of the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, California, will jury the competition.
3. DEADLINE EXTENDED to Aug. 31st : Edward Robinson serves as the juror for New Normal at the Center for Fine Art Photography. Apply now!
4. Art Fag City is celebrating its 5-year anniversary with one big project, The Sound of Art, and we need your submissions! The Sound of Art is a documentation of the sounds heard in galleries, museums, and project spaces in New York over the past five years in the form of a DJ battle record, CD, and MP3 recording. If you’ve participated in a multimedia exhibition over the last five years in either Brooklyn or Manhattan we want you to submit your sounds!
5. Lens Culture has announced its 2010 International Exposure Awards Competition of the best in global photography. The competition is designed to find, nurture, and promote emerging as well as established talent from all over the world. It is open to all photographers working in genres ranging from documentary to fine art and fashion photography.
6. Thisartist.tv is a project whereby we can watch artists speak intimately about there aesthetics and creative process.
7. The Secret Science Club returns to the Bell House on Tuesday, August 24, with more brain-boggling lectures, volatile cocktails, and synapse-stimulating sounds.
8. There are some awesome new titles out from Aperture this week! Including this one by Trevor Paglen which was already skillfully reviewed over at Conscientious.
